The Coopers are getting ready for Marina's surgery. Buzz tells Lucy that he is going to visit her at the boarding house but when he gets there, he finds Alan-Michael. Jenna returns from her trip and wants to know if Alex has attempted anything while she was away. Jenna is not thrilled to hear that Roger has hired Nadine to do a talk show, but goes along with it. Roger does not want Lucy working as Jenna's personal assistant because she is Buzz's daughter. Jenna goes to see Nadine to find out what she has planned and they argue about Buzz. Buzz goes to see Roger and asks him to give Lucy a chance at the job. He accuses Roger of hiring Nadine to spy on him and Jenna. He tells Roger that when he and Jenna got married he gave up and to not fire Lucy over a misunderstanding. Roger agrees to let Lucy work there when Jenna come into the office. She talks down to Buzz in front of Lucy. A hurt Buzz tells Jenna to never come near him again. Buzz asks Nadine out and he takes her to the drive in. Hart shows up and begs Roger for money to pay the back taxes on the farm so that he can keep it. Jenna says she will give him the money, but Roger won't have it. He forces to get Hart to admit that he lied about Jenna and Buzz. Out of desperation, Hart lies and says he made everything up, but Roger tells him he won't give him the money and disowns him for lying about Jenna. Buzz and Nadine are at the drive in on a date and end up at the Sweet Dreams motel. Buzz tells Nadine about how he married Lucy's mother. Jenna goes to the tax auction with the intention of buying Hart's farm to give it back to him, but Hart misinterprets and thinks she is doing it for Roger. Hart loses the farm and leaves town. Lucy questions Jenna about her relationship with Buzz. Jenna tells her that nothing is between them except the fact that he is the mechanic for her car. Jenna goes home to find that Alex had broken into the mansion to search it. Nadine and Buzz make love and Buzz tells her how he married Lucy's mother because he had killed her husband on accident. The army had covered it up by declaring him a hero and giving him a silver star. He stayed with Lucy's mother and they had Lucy together, afterward Lucy's mother took off so Buzz stuck around to raise Lucy. After hearing his story, Nadine tells Buzz never to apologize for anything ever again. Buzz tells her that he had not told anyone that story before because he had been waiting to tell her.
